Protecting the oil on the way

Extra virgin olive oil has three enemies in transit: heat, light and oxygen. A bottle that leaves the mill in perfect condition can lose its freshness on a sunny quay or in a container crossing the equator.

• Heat — thermal liners for containers on long or summer routes, and no pallets left waiting in the sun at the port.
• Light — dark glass or tins, and cartons that stay closed until the shelf.
• Oxygen — little headspace in the bottle, and nitrogen in bulk tanks.
• Timing — long routes planned in cooler months where possible. Picual, the most stable variety, travels best, as we explain on our Picual page.

From one pallet to a full container

• Groupage — single pallets shipped through European road networks or shared containers: the right start for a first order.
• Full container — a dedicated 20- or 40-foot container by sea for larger volumes to the Americas, the Middle East or Asia.
• Road within Europe — the fastest route to most EU countries, the UK and Switzerland.
• Packing — dividers in the cartons, corner boards, stretch film and labelled pallets; tins rather than glass where breakage is a risk.

The paperwork

We prepare the export side: commercial invoice, packing list, transport document, proof of origin, certificate of analysis and, where relevant, the organic certificate. Can you ship small quantities?

Yes. A first order can travel as one or a few pallets in groupage, by road within Europe or in a shared container overseas.

How do you protect olive oil from heat during shipping?

With thermal liners on long or summer routes, dark packaging, minimal waiting time at ports, and, where possible, shipments planned in cooler months.

Do you handle customs outside the EU?

We prepare the export documents and coordinate the import side with your customs broker or forwarder, who clears the goods at destination.
